About
Basically the development team of Nintendo of America, but to a much smaller extent. Developed recently by Nintendo, this company draws its talents right out of Digipen, a top-rated game-programming school. NST debuted with Ridge racer 64, which is considered the best 'serious racer' on N64. Their only other title under its belt is Pokemon Puzzle League. This development seems to be made out of the right stuff, but again, it'd be nice to see more than just EAD and Rare making the acclaimed, 'deeper' games. NST so far seems to be only talented in more 'casual' games, and so far I can't imagine them developing games such as Zelda, Metroid or a shooter or an RPG. It would be of great, great help if EAD and NST came up with different types of ground-breaking titles rather than NST just doing the side-titles that aren't the deep, genuine games Nintendo is known for. Why does EAD have to be the only one that makes the 'special' games? NST isn't just any developer, they are a developer specifically sparked by Nintendo to aid Nintendo. Then why don't they have a go at more 'deep', genuine titles that Nintendo is known for? Why do they just have to be the 'side-assister'? Why don't they develop an RPG, adventure or something? They have the talents, and the help from Miyamoto to do it.
Strengths
  • The 'casual' side of Nintendo, these guys can pull off racing games, sports games, etc.
  • 'Only a phone call away from Miyamoto when we need help', they said.
  • Weaknesses
  • Again, I can't imagine them pulling off games like Zelda or Mario. Why does EAD have to be the only one who makes the deep, genuine games?
  • So far, they haven't come up with their own franchise. It would be nice to see EAD and NST have separate franchises, with different tastes.
  • This isn't just an ordinary developer, they are sparked by Nintendo as a first-party developer. Why don't they have a go at more 'deep', genuine games?
  • Relationship With Nintendo
Basically a smaller Nintendo of America development house, and is basically part of Nintendo, but in US. They just gotta make more acclaimed, genuine titles Nintendo is known for, to get a more 'Nintendo' reputation. We'll have to just wait and hope...
