About
Left Field, a sports-titles developer for Nintendo, isn't very well
known. This is because they have only made a few games ever since the SNES
era, and only 2 games on the N64. However, Excitebike proved to be a ground-breaking
motorbike racer of 2000, and one of the best racers on the N64. Their previous
title, NBA Courtside 2, was also a worthy basketball game that stood out
on the N64, but was nothing amazing in terms of visuals and gameplay. However,
it is clear that this team has potential in sports games, and hopefully
will come up with more titles on Gamecube that are more outstanding and
extraordinary. However, it's great to have an exclusive sports titles developer
when most of today's sports titles are multi-platform from EA Sports. Also,
they have said that they might mnake other types of games depending on
what the team wants. |
Strengths
They know what needs to go into a sports title.
Both of their N64 titles were great.
If they develop more sports games, it'll be great to have them because
that means there will be great exclusive sports titles that the Gamecube
might lack.
|
Weaknesses
They make one game every few years.
Their titles are great, but nothing ground-breaking, amazing or new.
They are quite unknown, mainly because there is such a huge lineup of sports
titles today and only a couple of them are Left Field's.
They need to make more games, or they will just be a small part of the
flurry of sports titles.

Relationship With Nintendo
They have no reason to have a problem with Nintendo. Also, they seem
to be very positive and close to Nintendo regarding inputs and Nintendo
helping them, as well as the developer-friendliness of Gamecube. They just
need more great games to be famous and be closer with Nintendo... |

Confirmed NGC Titles
Left Field's president Michael Lamb confirmed that we'll see Left Field
games at E3, and maybe multiple games depending on what Nintendo wants
to show. |
