Metroid 4
One of the most popular franchises ever will make a return after at least 7 years - however it's not Nintendo in charge... which will worry some people (including me)...

Now now, before you start spewing at me for not giving this hyped piece of  a game monster a higher EM bar, just think about this --

1. The game isn't in development by Nintendo.. I'm sure people will be concerned that Nintendo isn't in charge this time.

2. Even if Retro Studios can do the justice, how do we know if it won't be just a great action game that has no special 'Nintendo' feeling to it? To many people, that Nintendo feeling is as important as the game itself.

3. We don't have ANY screenshots or ANY game detail of any type. Although it's quite certain it will be a 3D game, that's not even confirmed. Even the game itself was barely confirmed by Retro, and denied by Nintendo.

4. Retro is a very talented development house, but we don't have any proof of their talent yet. We haven't seen any of their games to be assured that they can do the franchise justice. We never know what they are like.

5. Even if this turns out a great game, people might still be thinking 'Hey, what if Nintendo made this? It might have been better'.

With that out of the way, there is no doubt Retro Studios is a very talented Studio. They are what many people are calling 'The Rareware of US', but we'll just have to wait and see. The best thing that could happen was if Rareware and Retro 'took turns' in making different great games in different genres. Along with Nintendo and NST, that would be like all the great 3rd parties combined.
Just imagine it -- Nintendo releasing Mario, Zelda, StarFox, 1080, etc, Rare with platformers. shooters, and KI3 (I just hope...) and others, while Retro releases action, RPG, sports, FPS's, and racing (according to sources, those are the exact 5 they are making). Mmm...

Anyway, just remember this:
Why would Nintendo give the responsibility of the Metroid sequel to Retro if they weren't impressed with them?
Period.

Outlook
With no screens, details, concrete confirmation, no Retro experience, and with concerns about the title losing the Nintendo feel, I can't be too sure right now. We'll just have to wait and see...
